How to add a video to the welcome guide?

Sometimes it's very useful and convenient to convey your explanations to the guest using Videos. This allows to really show your property and all of the details that are sometime hard to explain using text.

You can do that very simply. Here are the steps :

  1. Record your video
  2. Upload your video to youtube and make sure to publish it as "Unlisted". This makes sure that the video cannot be found by anyone in the youtube search but at the same time keeps it public so that it can be view by anyone once he person has the link.
  3. Copy the youtube video share link.
  4. Go to your welcome guide on nowistay and paste the link at the location int he page you want it to appear.

You can also click the "+" button in the welcome guide page editor and paste your link in the displayed field.

Done ! You're video is now loaded with the player and available for your guests to see when browsing the welcome guide.

Important note about the AI co-host

As you might know, the AI co-host uses the welcome guide as a source of knowledge when responding to guest messages.

But it cannot (for the moment) extract the data contained in the video audio or images.

To make sure the content of the video is also known by the AI co-host, you need to add explicit text below the video. We know this can be time consuming. But don't worry, there is a very simple way to get that quickly :

  1. Go to your video on youtube.
  2. Expand the description and scroll until you see the "transcription" button.
  3. Click to load the transcript and copy all the content.
  4. Go to chatGPT
  5. Ask chatGPT : "Summarize that video transcript in a text that will be added to an Airbnb guest welcome guide." Then attach the transcript as a file or juste below your prompt.
  6. Copy chatGPT's answer and past it below the video in the welcome guide, done !
