How to translate my welcome book?

Hosting travelers from around the world? Great idea to offer your welcome book in multiple languages! With Nowistay, you can translate the content of your guide to provide a smooth, personalized experience to each guest (no matter what language they speak).

In this article, we’ll walk you through every step. A small effort for you, a big comfort for your guests.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you:

• Have an active nowistay account
• Have at least one property and digital guide already created

Main language and general functioning

By default, the welcome guide is considered written in English, which becomes the main language of the guide.

The main language is used when the traveler’s browser language is not supported by the guide. It also serves as the fallback language: if a page is not translated into the guest's preferred language, content from the main language will be displayed instead.

Adding and enabling additional languages

To add one or more extra languages:

1. Open your welcome guide
2. Click the flag icon next to the “Share” button, then click on the “Settings” link
3. Enable the languages of your choice in the “Translate” section

Once activated, these languages become immediately available:

• In the guide editor
• In the traveler app (via shared link or QR code)
  

You can then manually translate your guide content, language by language.

How to translate your welcome guide?

For each language you activate:

• Nowistay automatically copies the content from your main language to help you translate faster.
• You can edit each field manually to translate your content.
  

⚠️ Important: If you set a non-translated language as the new main language, all newly activated languages will appear empty.

For an optimal experience:

1. Complete your guide in the main language first.
2. Then, translate each activated language manually, using the pre-filled content as a reference
