Airbnb MCP: Can You Connect ChatGPT or Claude to Your Airbnb Listings? (2026 Guide for Hosts)

As of October 2026, Airbnb offers no official MCP server, ChatGPT app or Claude connector for hosts, and its API is reserved for approved software partners. This guide explains what MCP is, what the open-source Airbnb MCP servers actually do and why they clash with Airbnb's terms, and how to connect ChatGPT or Claude to your Airbnb bookings safely through a partner PMS.

Not directly. As of October 2026, Airbnb offers no official MCP server, no ChatGPT app and no Claude connector for hosts, and its API is reserved for approved software partners. The "Airbnb MCP" servers you find on GitHub search public listings the way a guest would: they cannot see your reservations, messages or payouts, and the scraping they rely on goes against Airbnb's terms. The safe way to put ChatGPT or Claude to work on your Airbnb business is indirect: connect the assistant to a PMS or channel manager that is an Airbnb partner, and let it read and update your Airbnb data through that software.

What is MCP, in plain words?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools and data. Anthropic introduced it in November 2024 and, in December 2025, donated it to the Agentic AI Foundation, a fund of the Linux Foundation co-founded with Block and OpenAI. The official MCP documentation compares it to a USB-C port for AI applications: one standard plug instead of a custom cable for every tool.

In practice, a software company publishes an "MCP server": a list of actions the assistant is allowed to call, such as "list bookings" or "update the price for these dates". When you ask a question, the assistant picks the right action, gets the answer from the software and writes its reply. ChatGPT calls these integrations apps, Claude calls them connectors, and both rely on MCP.

Does Airbnb have an official MCP server or API for hosts?

No. Here is what we could verify on 8 October 2026:

  • No Airbnb MCP server. Airbnb publishes no MCP server and no connector for ChatGPT or Claude, for hosts or for guests.
  • A partner-only API. The Airbnb API documentation covers listings, availability and reservations, but its guides open only after a Partner Portal sign-in, and the site offers no sign-up for individual hosts. Access goes to software companies that Airbnb approves as connectivity partners: property management systems (PMS) and channel managers.
  • Not even a guest app in ChatGPT.Skift reported on 23 September 2026 that Airbnb has kept booking out of ChatGPT while Booking.com and Expedia went in, and that Brian Chesky plans to launch Airbnb's own AI agent in 2027.

So when a tool promises to "connect ChatGPT to your Airbnb account", ask how it gets the data. In practice there are two routes: an official partner connection, or scraping and other unofficial access.

What do the "Airbnb MCP" servers on GitHub actually do?

Search "Airbnb MCP" and the top results are open-source projects listed in MCP directories. A typical one, listed in most of them, offers two tools:

  • Search listings by location, dates, number of guests and price range, with prices and links in the results.
  • Get listing details for one listing: description, amenities, house rules and location.

It works by loading Airbnb's public web pages and extracting their content. It follows Airbnb's robots.txt file by default but has an option to ignore it, and its page states that it is not affiliated with Airbnb. In other words, it is a search tool for travellers, not a hosting tool.

Open-source Airbnb MCP servers are developer projects: check what they access before you install one.

What these servers cannot do matters more to a host:

  • They do not sign in to your host account, so they cannot see your reservations, guest messages, payouts or calendar blocks.
  • They cannot change a price, block a date or reply to a guest.
  • They can stop working without notice when Airbnb changes its pages.

Some unofficial code libraries go further and use the private interface of Airbnb's mobile app with your login, and anyone can wrap them into an MCP server. That is the riskier variant: you hand your Airbnb credentials to a tool Airbnb has not approved.

Is an unofficial Airbnb MCP against Airbnb's terms?

Airbnb's Terms of Service (last updated 5 February 2026) are explicit. Section 11.1 says: "Do not use bots, crawlers, scrapers, or other automated means to access or collect data or other content from or otherwise interact with the Airbnb Platform." The same section forbids scraping or reverse engineering the platform, and helping others break these rules. Further on, the terms allow Airbnb to suspend or close an account that breaches them.

These rules apply to every Airbnb user, hosts included. For a host, the account at stake carries your listings, your reviews and your future bookings. Running a scraper, or giving your login to an unofficial tool, from that account is a risk you can avoid entirely by going through a partner.

This is a summary of Airbnb's public terms, not legal advice. Check the version of the terms that applies in your country.

The legitimate route: an assistant connected through your PMS

Airbnb's software partners sync your listings, calendar, rates, reservations and guest messages through the official connection you authorise from your Airbnb account. Some PMS and channel managers now publish MCP connectors on top of that connection, because they already hold your Airbnb data legitimately. The chain looks like this:

  1. You ask ChatGPT or Claude a question.
  2. The assistant calls your PMS through its connector, with the permissions you approved.
  3. The PMS answers from the data it already syncs with Airbnb, and sends any change you confirm (a price, a blocked date) back to Airbnb through its partner connection.

Nothing scrapes Airbnb, and your Airbnb password stays with Airbnb. If you are still choosing software, our guide to Airbnb management software explains what a PMS does and how to pick one.

One limit to know: reservations made on Airbnb are controlled by Airbnb. A connected assistant can read them and message the guest, but alterations and cancellations generally still go through Airbnb's own flow.

What can you ask an assistant connected to your PMS?

Once connected, the assistant works on your real data rather than on guesses. Typical requests:

  • Bookings and occupancy: "Who checks in this week across all my apartments?", "What was my occupancy in September, per property?", "How many nights came from Airbnb versus Booking.com this year?"
  • Calendar and rates: "Show my prices for the next 30 days and flag the empty weekends", "Set a 3-night minimum stay for July and August." Our AI rate audit on your live calendar walks through this use case.
  • Guests and messages: "Summarise the conversation with tonight's guest", "Draft a reply about late check-out and show it to me before sending."
  • Missions: "Create a cleaning task for Saturday at 11 am", "Which cleaning reports flagged a problem this month?"
  • Reports: "Give me revenue and cleaning costs per property for the third quarter, as a table."

More examples are in our guide on using ChatGPT or Claude to manage vacation rentals.

What should you check before connecting anything?

  • Who built the connector. Anthropic's own advice is to connect Claude only to servers built and hosted by organisations you trust. The same logic applies to ChatGPT apps.
  • Permissions. The sign-in screen lists what the assistant may read and change. Approve what you need, and revoke access when you stop using it.
  • Write actions with confirmation. Price changes, messages and bookings should go through a preview you approve. Avoid "always allow" on tools that change data, and switch write tools off when the assistant runs long research tasks on its own.
  • Guest data. Names, messages and phone numbers are personal data. Prefer a connector that hides contact details unless you ask for them, check your assistant's data and memory settings, and never paste card numbers or ID documents into a chat.
  • Your assistant plan. Claude supports custom connectors on its Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with one custom connector on the Free plan. In ChatGPT, the apps and actions available depend on your plan, so check before you rely on write actions.

How does connecting ChatGPT or Claude to your PMS work, step by step?

  1. Check the prerequisites. Your software must offer an MCP connector or a ChatGPT app, and your subscription must include it.
  2. Add the connector. In ChatGPT, open the apps directory (under Plugins in the sidebar), search for your software and click Connect. In Claude, open the connector settings, choose to add a custom connector and paste the connector URL your software provides.
  3. Sign in with OAuth. You land on your software's own login page. The assistant receives an access key it can use on your behalf, never your password.
  4. Approve the permissions. Read the list (bookings, calendar, messages, missions) and approve it.
  5. Set the allowed tools. Keep write tools on "ask before acting" and disable the ones you don't need.
  6. Start with a read-only question, such as "List my arrivals for next week", to check that the right properties show up.

Nowistay: an official ChatGPT app and a Claude connector for your Airbnb listings

Nowistay is a PMS and channel manager connected to Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Expedia, with an autonomous AI co-host built in. It is available as an official ChatGPT app and as a Claude connector over MCP, so the assistant you already use can work on your Airbnb listings through Nowistay's channel connection.

What the assistant can read: your properties and their settings, bookings from every channel, calendar availability, prices and stay rules, guest profiles, guest conversations, cleaning and maintenance missions with their completion reports, your paid extras catalog, your welcome guide, and the private questions and answers your AI co-host uses.

What it can change, always after a preview you confirm:

  • Prices, availability, minimum and maximum stays, and arrival or departure restrictions, which then sync to Airbnb and your other channels.
  • Direct bookings: create or update them, with an optional payment link.
  • Guest messages, sent in the Airbnb conversation, on WhatsApp or by email.
  • Missions for your cleaning and maintenance team.
  • Welcome guide pages and the AI co-host's knowledge base.

Each change is staged first: the assistant shows exactly what it will do, and nothing happens until you confirm, within 10 minutes. Reservations received from Airbnb and the other platforms stay read-only. Guest emails and phone numbers stay hidden unless you ask for them, and guests' postal addresses are never shared with the assistant. You sign in with your Nowistay account, the assistant never sees your password, and you can revoke access at any time.

The connection covers properties on the full Nowistay plan (from €12 / $15 per property per month, first month free) that are connected to Nowistay's channel manager. Setup is explained in how to connect ChatGPT or Claude to Nowistay, with prompts to try in what you can do with the Nowistay integration.
